Helicopter Twirls Wildly into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Beach
A chopper flying near a popular coastal coastline suddenly began spiraling out of control, ultimately losing altitude and smashing into a cluster of palm trees as beachgoers observed.
Videos uploaded online depict the chopper beginning to twirl over the shoreline then plunging in the direction of the border of the shore, where it becomes wedged between palm trees and a set of stairs adjacent to the coastal road.
Emergency Response Information
Local firefighters said five people were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the incident on that day.
Three individuals on the pavement were injured. Details on their injuries were still under review.
