Bondi Announces Probe into Trump Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Connections
This past Friday, Pam Bondi appointed interim US attorney Jay Clayton to oversee an investigation into political adversaries of Donald Trump and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This move came hours after Trump instructed her to begin the investigation.
In a statement, Bondi highlighted Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. She stated, “As with all matters, the department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”
This development appears to contradict a recent memorandum from justice department officials which declared that the Epstein files did not warrant further inquiries. According to the memo, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”
Trump Demands Focus on Political Opponents in the Epstein Case
The announcement comes as growing pressure from Trump on lawmakers to resist the full release of files concerning Epstein ahead of an upcoming House vote next week. Several lawmakers are anticipated to support the disclosure.
Newly public emails from Epstein have spotlighted Trump’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, revealing details that his knowledge of Epstein’s behavior exceeded prior admissions.
On Friday, the President announced he would direct the DOJ to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.
